Williamsburg - design inspiration

This Spring we took a family trip to Historic Williamsburg, Virginia. It was all it was cracked up to be, with folks in period costumes reading the Declaration of Independence to a guy who just refused to break character - basically, if you asked him about anything past 1775 you got a blank stare "I know nothing of this...". I really enjoyed this trip  (highlight: I had to go to the historic jeweler to borrow some historic snips to cut off my son's broken non-historic braces) - not just for the historic wake up but also for the design wake up it provided. Most surprising were the bold colors and patterns - completely unexpected.

a bit of chinoiserie. Pretty bold color on the walls too!
