I've always loved the look of encaustic cement tiles --they remind me of the tropics, the beach, all things I love. After one so-so experience installing them in a bathroom (chipped in shipping, needed sealing), I've shied away a bit from recommending the material to clients.

Have been keeping my eyes open for other options, and now I'm seeing cement-inspired tiles in porcelain, which makes it durable and low maintenance. Yay!
