Renegade Craft Fair highlights
This past weekend we went to the Renegade Craft Fair, which takes place in Austin, L.A., Chicago, San Francisco, and our very own Brooklyn. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, let me avoid writer's cramp and show you some of the neat things people are making.First, prints on linen from Sheepshead :
A subtle skyline print - $25 in several colors
Botanical Prints in a number of color combinations - $40 for 10x18"
And from photography
John Murphy, pieces with poetic names like "Everyone here loves you" framed in fantastic colors.
There was some wonderful jewelry based on or cast directly from nature:
I love this twig necklace (remind you of anything?) from
Twigs and Heather
This one is a one-of-a-kind at $300, but there are other smaller pieces as low as $95
Anne Arden Mcdonald, a photographer and sculpture makes these soulful and organic rings
The fern and broken spiral ring cast in silver are $75
And these wonderful re-purposed clock hands as earrings (only $25) from
I am Dorkas, also selling beautiful textiles and small wood pieces
There were some fun pillows from
Coral and Tusk
Sweet egg holders and other tabletop items from
JFish
(These photos don't do them justice -- they have beautiful color glazes on the interiors)
And one of my absolutely favorite pieces, ceramic boat cleats from
Denise De Long. I just have to decide how I would want to use this. As a hook? to hang a painting from rope? or perhaps something even less expected. Fantastic colors. $22
