What this guest bathroom lacked in budget, we made up for in simplicity and charm. We saved by used inexpensive subway tiles on the walls and penny tiles on the floor, and splurged on a custom border. For inspiration, I used a Greek Key motif, which was commonplace in the pre-war apartments of my childhood. While those tiles are usually black and white, this was a contemporary interpretation using bottle-green and dark brown recycled glass. Custom artwork - based on the owner’s apricot tree - was created using the room’s color palette.
